Aerial silks AKA Hammocks are not actually made from silk but a nylon tricot that is extremely strong but also stretchy.
The silks themselves are rated for up to 700 lbs. Our rigging could hold 2 semi trucks and you wouldn't see a bend. So no matter your body size, shape or fitness level we are here to help you fly!
Aerial has too many benefits to list them all, however some of the main benefits are the decompression of your spine. Sitting and standing all day does a number on your body but the inversions made possible by the hammock helps to reverse a lot of that damage. Aerial will help boost your immune system by making your lymphatic system work backwards when we invert. It also helps boost endorphins and serotonin levels which will help lower stress and anxiety. The list goes on and on.
A fun, judgement free zone where we know grace, flexibility and balance come with practice and time. Each class will have inversions and we ALWAYS offer variations of all poses we walk through so if you are not ready for that flip yet it's okay.
Yes. There is no getting around it. When you first start aerial the silk will "bite" you leaving what we call "silk kisses" AKA bruising, but over time as your body gets used to the pressure of the hammock it hurst less and less.
We always recommend wearing long pants and a tshirt that are free of metals (ex: zippers, buttons, etc.), velcro and fit well. If you choose to wear shorts or tank tops please note that this will add to the likelihood of bruising or silk burns. Long hair should be kept up and out of your face and we ask that you do not have sharp, ragged, or pointed finger or toe nails as it can cause snags in the silks and lead to holes. We will mostly likely also ask you to remove any sharp or pointed jewelry.
Please bring a water and Yoga mat. Regardless of the class you are taking. We also recommend a sweat towel. If you have yoga props of your own please feel free to bring those as well.
Aerial is safe and fun but if you have a health concern that relates to blood pressure, heart issues, are prone to motion sickness, fainting or dizzy spells then you need to let your instructor know and as always you should consult your doctor prior to starting any new workout routine.
No, we do not offer refunds. You are able to rebook your class with 2 hour notice one time free of charge.
If we have bad weather we will reschedule class. If this new date/time does not work for you then you can schedule another class that does work for you and your schedule.
We ask that if you can not make it to class you provide a minimum of a 2 hour notice so that you are able to reschedule. If you are more than 5 minutes late to class we count this as a no show. We kindly ask you respect ours and the others in your class time as we respect yours.
